JD’s Hamburgers is adding film star to its already mouth-watering repertoire.
The Fort Worth burger joint, owned and operated by Gigi Howell, is located across the street from the Patch Cafe, a fictional watering hole featured on the Paramount+ series “Landman”.
According to a recent report from WFAA Channel 8, the restaurant has seen an uptick in business, since the area has become one of the primary filming locations for the popular television show. Individuals often stop in the Patch Cafe parking lot to take photos and selfies with the building.
JD’s menu features locally sourced ingredients and a variety of signature burgers, all named after members of Howell’s family. Try the Cheryl & Bo with hatch chile queso and caramelized onions or the Dot & Johnny Mack with pico de gallo and avocado spread.
Many other local businesses are also reaping the benefits of the film industry setting up shop in North Texas. According to the City of Fort Worth, Taylor Sheridan’s productions have pumped more than $300 million into the local economy, purchasing everything from props and equipment to food and lodging for cast and crew members.
The tv and film industry has been a hot topic during the 89th Texas Legislative Session. The Senate recently passed SB 22 (23-8 vote), which would set aside approximately $500 million in film incentives every two years for the next 10 years. If it passes in the House, it will be the most amount of money ever allocated for media production since the state’s film incentive grant was created in 2007.
